Public wars, private profit

Article Abstract:

There are increasing reports of private security contractors being used in Iraq to ferret out information from prisoners or even to help in policing activities around the country. There are suggestions that many of these contractors are linked to the prisoner abuse scandal at the Abu Ghraib detention center. The United States government has always outsourced non-core operations within their own country but observers are not sure whether doing the same in Iraq may be to their advantage.

Shockwaves

These pictures on psychological abuse inflicted on Iraqi prisoners in Abu Ghraib, the notorious prison where Saddam Hussein's jailers preceded forces, will have negative repercussions on American designs for the Arab world.
