Quem patrem? M.E. Bradford's Southern patrimony

Article Abstract:

M.E. Bradford's work on Southern history, culture, and thought clearly shows that property and the image of farmers have always been very important to the Southern conservative tradition. This approach of the Southerners and their offspring have kept their desires and expectations on a modest level. According to Bradford, they have always used nature without disturbing the ecology. He also endorses the role of tradition for the survival and welfare of mankind and according to him, any effort to remove restrictions from them may jeopardize the civilized estate.
