Revolution reconsidered

Article Abstract:

The "color revolutions" in Georgia and Ukraine, which were mass movements that mobilized huge parts of the populations and involved the public discrediting of the old order, are analyzed in the context of a transition to democracy. Although democratic consolidation confronts problems in both these countries, it is believed that the modern kind of non-violent revolution for adoption of democracy does not allow citizens to go back to an undemocratic past.
