The UN Commision on Sustainable Development, 1995

Article Abstract:

The 1995 session of the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD) in New York established a broad based Ad Hoc Intergovernmental Panel on Forests. Another notable feature of the session was a high-level ministerial meeting that provided an integrated overview of the implementation of Agenda 21. The session also became a venue for presenting case studies and national experiences on the implementation of Local Agenda 21. Local Agenda 21 is being implemented in 26 countries. Doubts were expressed about the CSD's future beyond 1997.
