The civil service as an employer of choice in Belgium

Article Abstract:

The recruitment of employees to governmental organizations is severely affected by labor market shortage and diminished attractiveness of government employment, as set by HerzbergEs model of motivation. The affiliation of politics and policies describes a major part of the attractiveness of government employment. It is suggested that public service motivation be used as an important variable in the recruitment process to enable the government emerge as the employer of choice.

Leadership, empowerment, and public organizations

Article Abstract:

Empowerment of subordinates by managers has a direct relationship with the amount of difficulty in the task involved. The results of the study indicate that empowerment of subordinates in both public and private organizations, is an innovative adaptation of McGregorEs motivational Theory Y and people-oriented leadership.
