War designed for one

Article Abstract:

The increased exploitation of information technology to better read battlefield conditions and target weapons systems has resulted in a revolution in the conduct of warfare. The 1991 Persian Gulf War proved that such technology can work reliably and have a devastating impact upon the enemy. Reliance on information technology, however, must not be recklessly pursued without considering political, military and logistical factors that could affect its rate of success. Firepower, ground troops, logistical support and the likely character of future wars remain important military planning considerations.
