West turns East at the end of history

Article Abstract:

Mexican poet Octavio Paz remarks that the demise of modernism has ushered in a worldview characterized by a convergence of the imaginations of the Western and Eastern civilizations. This new mindset, which he calls 'time without measure,' is paradoxical in that it simultaneously enfolds death and life, the depravity and virtue of man, past, present and eternity.
