Annotation: implications of violence between intimate partners for child psychologists and psychiatrists

Article Abstract:

The health and well-being of children are greatly affected by adult partner violence or spouse abuse which they witness from their parents. Various studies show that adult partners who are violent toward each other often abuse their children. Thus, children who are exposed to marital violence or who are victims of child abuse are prone to develop conduct problems and to exhibit partner violence with their lovers during their adolescent years. Partner violence manifested by young adults is seen to be a long-term aggressive response to early childhood experiences of abuse and exposure to domestic violence.

Maternal adjustment, parenting and child behaviour in families of school-aged twins conceived after IVF and ovulation induction

Article Abstract:

Research shows no significant differences between parents whose twins are conceived through reproductive technology and those whose are naturally conceived regarding parent-teacher ratings of children's behavior or parental adjustment. However, reproductive technology parents agreed more often with each other regarding discipline than natural conception parents.
