The relationship between mutual family relations and child psychopathology

Article Abstract:

Research was conducted to investigate the association of different family relation patterns to child psychopathology. The study involved 137 families. The findings indicate that child problem behavior was influenced by mother-child and the mother-father relationships. Externalizing behavior was particularly identified with mother-child relationship while internalizing behavior was identified with mother-father relationship. These suggest that more negative relationships result in more behavior problem.
