Causes and recovery in anorexia nervosa: the patient's perspective

Article Abstract:

This article examines the attitudes of anorexic patients regarding the causes and recovery of anorexia. The authors, interviewing female patients, maintain the most common perception of the causes of anorexia were dysfunctional families and stress, and the most common perceptions of successful recovery were supportive nonfamilial relationships, therapy, and maturation.

From genes to treatment response: New research into the psychobiology of anorexia nervosa

Article Abstract:

The biological aspects of anorexia nervosa (AN) that are, molecular genetics, neuroimaging, and medical complications are highlighted. New research on the psychopathology of AN, and its effects on the patient and significant others like, neuropsychological disturbances, personality, and parenting concerns in women with eating disorders (EDs) are discussed.

Seasonally bound ovopathy versus "temperature at conception" as cause for anorexia nervosa and other eating disorders

Article Abstract:

Eating disorder patients are more prone to conceive during the transitional stages of the ovulatory pattern and less frequently at the ovulatory peaks. The pathophysiologic processes of oocyte maturation are more appropriate to explain these coincidences than the temperature at conception.
