Cognitive and affective consequences of repressive coping

Article Abstract:

Research compares cognitive processing, behavior and memory in repressors and non-repressors, repressors being subjects who react more intensely to emotional stimuli. Repressors and non-repressors were shown an unpleasant movie, and then were compared on their moods after the viewing, as well as their ability to remember details of the film.

Cross-cultural differences in coping with sadness

Article Abstract:

A cross-cultural study of coping finds that Caucasians and Asians are not as likely to employ positive reappraisal and confrontive emotional strategies when coping with sadness as multicultural subjects. Results also suggest that distancing coping strategies are more likely to be used by multicultural subjects than Asians.
