Comment on Greenwald (1996): the assessment of fidelity to the EMDR treatment protocol

Article Abstract:

R. Greenwald's belief that an adherence to the eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) protocol has a significant impact on the results of a treatment outcome study on the effectiveness of EMDR was questioned. Focus was on the question of who has the capacity to determine if a study is faithful to the EMDR protocol. The formation of a panel was recommended to address the question. Panel members should have displayed an advanced level of knowledge on EMDR.
