Discussion of 'Why do people stay in hateful relationships? The concept of malignant vindictiveness' by Nathan M. Horwitz

Article Abstract:

The author examines further the relationship of the dysfunctional couple used as a case study in Horwitz's article. She looks at the psychological reasons that this couple stayed together long enough to reach Horwitz' point of malignant vindictiveness and see how they supported, in an unhealthy way, each other's dreams.

A psychoanalytic contribution to psychic vampirism: a case vignette

Article Abstract:

Psychic vampirism is described as a phenomenon that occurs in a relationship where the unfulfilled needs of an individual drain the emotional energy from another person. This dynamic has shown to be the result of a relationship between a needy, self-absorbed mother and her dependent child.
