Effectiveness of positive hypothesis testing in inductive and deductive rule learning

Article Abstract:

Positive hypothesis tests, that is, tests wherein the outcomes are expected to be in line with the hypothesis, have been found to be more reliable than negative hypothesis tests in determining people's capacity to assimilate rules inductively and deductively. The same finding was likewise generated from other hypothesis testing situations such as concept attainment, personality inference and covariance assessment. These findings should be considered when choosing hypothesis testing constructs for organizational researches.

Bias in jurors vs bias in juries: new evidence from the SDS perspective

Article Abstract:

Different intensities of biases among jurors and juries in legal cases have been studied using the social decision scheme (SDS) model. Results showed in extralegal biasing information, juries become more biased than jurors in moderate cases with moderate probability of conviction. On the other hand, without biasing information, the jurors become more biased than juries in extreme cases with very high or very low conviction probability.
