Effects of feedback complexity on dynamic decision making

Article Abstract:

People's decision making capabilities are negatively affected by feedback complexities in which the reception time for feedback information varied unpredictably or when feedback comes from multiple aspects. Test subjects asked to make decisions for stocking an inventory did not perform well as feedback loops became more complicated and required more time to be received. They also tended to place less control of the system even with ample information on its mechanisms.

The roles of information characteristics and accountability in moderating stereotype-driven processes during social decision making

Article Abstract:

The impact of stereotype availability, stereotype-consistency of attribute information and information acquisition accountability during social judgment are studied. Results show that stereotype labeling reduced the information gathering and information attribute evaluation activities of decision makers. Stereotype-inconsistencies undermined reliance on category-based expectations while accountability for judgments encouraged the evaluation of information.
