Effects of reproductive and social variables on fecal glucocorticoid levels in a sample of adult male Ring-Tailed Lemurs (Lemur catta) at the Beza Mahafaly Reserve, Madagascar

Article Abstract:

The interindividual differences in mean fecal glucocorticoid levels among males in three groups of wild ring-tailed lemurs to better understand the physiological costs of group living for males in a female-dominant species that exhibits strict reproductive seasonality are examined. Marked male-male mating competition did not result in a greater stress response for adult male ring-tailed lemurs at Beza Mahafaly Reserve.

Ovarian cycle phase and same-sex mating behavior in Japans macaque females

Article Abstract:

The relationship of the ovarian cycle phase to same-sex mounting activity in adult female Japanese macaques (Macaca fuscata) was studied during the 1997/1998 mating season. The findings suggest a link between hormonal fluctuations and patterns of sexual mounting, regardless of whether the partner is of the same or opposite sex.

Behavioral indicators of ovarian phase in white-faced Capuchins (Cebus capucinus)

Article Abstract:

Ten adult female white-faced capuchins in Santa Rosa National Park Costa Rica were studied. Their ovarian cycling patterns are determined by analyzing fecal ovarian hormones, and compared simultaneously collected behavioral data to determine which, if any, cues females use to signal their fertile phases.
