Evaluation of a classroom program of creative expression workshops for refugee and immigrant children

Article Abstract:

An evaluative study assessed the effect of a creative expression program designed to prevent emotional and behavioral problems and to enhance self-esteem in immigrant and refugee children attending multiethnic schools. The study provides some evidence that creative workshops in classroom can have a beneficial effect on the self-esteem and symptomatology of immigrant and refugee children from various cultures and backgrounds.

Influence of general self-efficacy on the effects of a school-based universal primary prevention program of depressive symptoms in adolescents: A randomized and controlled follow-up study

Article Abstract:

A cognitive-behavioral school-based universal primary prevention program was designed that followed 347 eighth-grade students participating in a randomized controlled trial for three months. Results revealed that the prevention program has favorable effects and that further research was needed to explore the impact of self-efficacy on the effects of prevention programs.

Family-based services in children's mental health: A research review and synthesis

Article Abstract:

A systematic review was undertaken of scientifically rigorous studies of family-based services in children's health and mental health. Studies demonstrate unequivocal improvements in other types of outcomes, such as retention in services, knowledge about mental health issues, self-efficacy, and improved family interactions.
