Factors in lay preferences for government or private supply of services

Article Abstract:

The three research studies on New Zealanders and English citizens preferences for whether services should be supplied privately or by the government related to the nature of the service reveals that importance of services, participants considered important, preference for government supply when services where related to health, and when few suppliers present for government services, preferences increased.

Support for trade restrictions, attitudes, and understanding of comparative advantage

Article Abstract:

Survey carried out in the United States and New Zealand shows that people who support import restrictions have scored low on the understanding of the comparative advantage, globalization and business. The import restrictions are also favored when the other country did not trade freely and if the good were already made in the country.

The effect of providing misleading cost information on the perceived value of government services

Article Abstract:

Studies showed that people are reluctant to use the government services, thinking more about the cost than the value. The effect of manipulating cost information on valuation of government services by the people is investigated.
