How specific are "specific developmental disorders"?: the relevance of the concept of specific developmental disorders for the classification of childhood developmental disorders

Article Abstract:

A study on the concept of specific developmental disorder was conducted to determine its relevance to the classification of childhood developmental disorders. Results of the study revealed that the key factor in this concept is the notion of discrepancy between observed and expected level of development. However, this notion should be tested and elaborately examined more thoroughly before it can be used to join concepts in classification.
