Increased error-related negativity (ERN) in childhood anxiety disorders: ERP and source localization

Article Abstract:

A study aims to determine whether the increased error related negativity (ERN) amplitude found in anxious adults is also found in children diagnosed with an anxiety disorder using event-related potentials (ERPs) and source localization analyses. The results provide evidence that children diagnosed with an anxiety disorder have large ERN that is localized to the anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) suggesting altered maturational patterns of the ACC circuitry early in the course of this illness

Reward related decision-making in pediatric major depressive disorder: An fMRI study

Article Abstract:

Behavioral and neutral responses to reward in young people with depressive disorders is examined with the help of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) using a reward decision making task. Neutral response exhibited by participants with major depressive disorder (MDD) is less compared to the control participants, in reward-related brain areas, which indicate that depression, and anxiety symptoms are associated with activation in reward-related brain areas.
