Incremental validity in the psychological assessment of children and adolescents

Article Abstract:

The issue of incremental validity in the process of psychological assessment of children and adolescents is investigated. The incremental validity of assessment information depends on factors such as goal of assessment, base rate of the problem or outcome, age, base rate of the problem or outcome, age or gender of the child, and the type of problem being assessed.

Validity of dietary restraint scales: Reply to van Strien et al.(2006)

Article Abstract:

A reply to the comment made by Stice et al. on validity of dietary restraint scales is made by Strien et al.(2006). They conclude that researchers should not have to work hard to find evidence that these scales correlate with dieting restriction, not settle for scales with only weak validity and use scales that are consistently valid across settings.

Development and validation of the smoking expectancy scale for adolescents

Article Abstract:

The factor structure, internal consistency and concurrent validity of the Smoking Expectancies Scale for Adolescents (SESA) model were assessed. It was observed that the SESA could be useful tool for researchers and practitioners interested in cognitive factors that likely underlie smoking initiation, maintenance and cessation in adolescents.
