Individual differences in reactivity to daily events: examining the roles of stability and level of self-esteem

Article Abstract:

The roles of stability and levels of self-esteem in individual differences in reactivity to daily events were examined via a regression approach using individuals' recorded negative and positive events within a two-week period. The results suggested that individuals with stable self-esteem were less affected by either positive or negative events. Furthermore, the self-feelings of individuals with low levels of self-esteem were greatly affected by negative events.

Supporters of President Clinton and pro-chose advocates underestimated the prevalence of their own opinions and those with differing opinions underestimated the prevalence of their opinion by a greater factor. Even though men and women favored pro-choice over pro-life, women presumed men would most likely favor the pro-choice position.
