Job performance attributions and career advancement prospects: an examination of gender and race effects

Article Abstract:

While women and those from ethnic minorities are now entering managment positions there is evidence that their progress can be limited by the operation of the 'glass ceiling.' This may be due to an inherent bias occurring in the methods of performance evaluation being used. The results of one experiment in gender and race bias show that race is more likely to result in negative bias rather than gender.
