Life strain, negative emotions, and delinquency: an empirical test of general strain theory in the People's Republic of China

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted, using a sample of 615 middle school and high school students from both rural and urban areas of the People's Republic of China, to test the central hypotheses concerning the mediating model in Angew's general strain theory. The result from the study reveals that the anger mediates the effect of interpersonal strain, and similar depression effects are due to nonviolent interpersonal strain.

Correctional officers' perceptions of the competency-based counseling training program in Taiwan: a preliminary qualitative research

Article Abstract:

The competency-based counseling training program (CBCT) and findings from a qualitative exploration of correctional officers' promotion training course having a counseling training model is discussed. The training program gave rise to positive feeling regarding learning experience, more theoretical knowledge and more understanding of the work involved in counseling.

Life strain, coping, and delinquency in the People's Republic of China: An empirical test of general strain theory from a matching perspective in social support

Article Abstract:

The effects of coping strategies predicted by general strain theory (GST) are examined, using a sample study of the People's Republic of China. The results have shown special attention to gender differences in the mobilization of social support and formulation of personal coping strategies, while facing interpersonal strain.
