Paranoid-schizoid anxiety, triangulation, and Oedipal trauma

Article Abstract:

When infants are beginning to differentiate themselves from the external world, somatic and psychic stimulations begin to create internal conflicts. The infant develops associations between parental body parts and the relief of frustrations, like hunger, resulting in pre-Oedipal dynamics and related anxieties.

Silences from the deep: mapping being and nonbeing in 'The Piano' and in a schizoid young woman

A comparison is made between the mute heroine in the film 'The Piano' and a young schizoid woman with severe speech disturbances to illustrate the psychoanalytic aspects of developing subjectivity and appropriate gender identity in women.
