Personality influences Tetanus-specific antibody response in adult male rhesus macaques after removal from natal group and housing relocation

Article Abstract:

Relationship between in vivo secondary antibody response to a tetanus toxoid booster immunization, and variation in the personality dimension 'sociability' in adult male rhesus macaques (Macaca mulatta) is examined. Multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) revealed that high-sociable animals had a significantly higher antibody response following relocation and immunization compared to low-social animals is explained.

Confirmatory factor analysis of personality structure in adult male Rhesus monkey (Macaca mulatta)

Article Abstract:

Two independent observers recorded the behavior of 58 adult male rhesus monkeys (Macaca mulatta), and then the animals with the use of a 50-item personality instrument were rated. A four-factor structure was reported using typical exploratory factor techniques on 15 traits that demonstrated adequate interrater agreement and reliability.

Temperament correlates with training success in adult rhesus macaques

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to examine whether temperament, as measured by response to a novel food object, correlated with the amount of time it took to train 20 adult female rhesus macaques to perform a simple task. The results revealed that of the 75% trained animals, only 22% performed the task successfully.
