Problems with using official records from young offender institutions as indices of bullying

Article Abstract:

One behavioral problem in juvenile detention facilities is bullying and antibullying strategy may have some effect. Correctional personnel may use their tally of bullying conduct as a sanction since they have too few other kinds of discipline. Juvenile delinquents of the age of most of the juvenile prison population also have higher rates of assault and battery. A study investigating the extent and kind of bullying in 5 Scottish juvenile detention facilities in a comparable 3-month period is given.
