Theft reduction in a grocery store through product identification

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to examine the impact of public identification in preventing thefts. Earlier studies have shown that high risk item identification decreased retail thefts by minimal numbers and short durations. Results of the present study show that public identification of target items almost totally eliminated thefts. Thus, public identification is established as a cost-effective measure for theft prevention.
