Social influences on the development of foraging behavior in free-living common marmosets (Callithrix jacchus)

Article Abstract:

The extent and pattern of social influences on the foraging behavior of immature, wild common marmosets (Callithrix jacchus) as a function of the age of individuals is investigated. Results reveal that infants are generally more attentive to the foraging behavior of subadults and adults than juveniles, with the latter being more influenced when they had observed a model before.

Adult-infant food transfer in common marmosets: An experimental study

Article Abstract:

A study investigated patterns of begging and food transfer in captive groups of common marmosets during tests with palatable novel food, unpalatable novel food, and familiar food. The result suggests that infant marmosets gain an opportunity to learn about diet breadth by begging for novel foods, but adults do not preferentially transfer novel or palatable food items.

Interpopulation differences in exudate feeding of pygmy marmosets in Ecuadorian Amazonia

Article Abstract:

The exudate-feeding behavior of pygmy marmosets, one of the most specialized neotropical primate species, is studied by describing the use of exudate sources. One implication of the results for conservation is that protecting exudate resources based on data from only one area will not be sufficient to preserve pygmy marmosets in all populations.
