Advances in the fields of technology and medicine have had an impact on several areas such as behavioral telehealth, and organ and tissue transplantation. Several such advances in different areas are examined with recommendations regarding the implications for research, practice, and education.

As population demographics in the U.S. undergo dramatic changes, the impact is felt in the research and practice of health psychology. Practitioners need to become aware of contextual variables and be ready to face the challenges and opportunities offered by these changes.

Social support and patient adherence to medical treatment: a meta-analysis

Article Abstract:

Studies show a high correlation between structural or functional social support and patient adherence to a medical regimen. Several issues relevant to future research and application are suggested in order to examine the link between social support and health.
