Temperament, parenting, and depressive symptoms in a population sample of preadolescents

Article Abstract:

The interaction between temperament, perceived parenting, and gender in relation to depressive problems in a Dutch population sample of preadolescents is analyzed. Results revealed that all parenting and temperament factors were significantly associated with depressive problems, and association between frustration and depression was stronger in boys supporting the hypothesis that the effect of specific parenting behaviors depends on the temperament and gender of the child.

Pre-attack symptomatology and temperament as predictors of children's responses to the September 11 terrorist attacks

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to assess the psychological response of children after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in New York and Washington, DC and to examine prospective predictors of children's post-attack responses. The pre-disaster symptomatology or low self-regulation might render children more vulnerable in response to a disaster, and immediate post-disaster responses predict subsequent symptomatology.
