The confidence heuristic: a game-theoretic analysis

Article Abstract:

Game theory based on rational players with well-defined goals has been used to examine group decision-making. However, social factors based on social psychology theories may contribute to such models. A game-theoretic model that incorporates social influence and information effects is proposed. It assumes a social norm that determines information revelation, leading to decisions made according to a confidence heuristic. The results indicate that group polarization occurs even in the presence of irrational players. If these individuals increase in number, however, the norm cannot be maintained.

Set-size and frequency-of-occurrence judgements in young and older adults: the role of the availability heuristic

Article Abstract:

The mechanisms underlying set-size and frequency-of-occurrence judgments were found to be similar in experiments using path analysis. The availability heuristic did not appear to play a significant role. The role of adult age was also investigated.
