Type III trauma: toward a more effective conceptualization of psychological trauma

Article Abstract:

A Type III traumatic disorder may be added to the the types I and II defined by psychiatrist Lenore Terr. Type I refers to a single traumatic event. Type II refers to multiple traumatic events. Type III may refer to multiple violent traumatic events that begin at an early age and continue at length. Victims of Type III trauma may exhibit emotional numbness, loss of self-respect and self-esteem, and damaged social and psychological development.

Parricides in the media: A content analysis of available reports across cultures

Article Abstract:

The information related to the system processing of parricide cases using available newspaper accounts and news release data sources are reported. These media accounts in the United States are compared with those in all other countries to determine what differences or similarities might exist in the media presentation of these cases, especially as coverage relates to the legal process and motivational aspects of the case.

A comparative analysis of media reports of U.S. parricide cases with officially reported national crime data and the psychiatric and psychological literature

Article Abstract:

The article discusses the U.S. media-reported cases of children killing parents. The cases when compared with Supplementary Homicide Report showed that electronic media focused more on the sensational parricides.
