Watching the eyes when talking about size: An investigation of message formulation and utterance planning

Article Abstract:

Two experiments were conducted in which naive participants took turns telling each other to click on a target picture while gaze was monitored. The results suggested relation between message formulation and utterance planning, supporting the hypothesis that one role of disfluency is to provide speakers with time to reformulate messages and utterances.

Verification of test ideas during reading

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to inspect the processes of verifying the current discourse constituent against the referents that it passively cues during reading. The experiments provided evidence that, when readers adopt an intentional verification strategy, reading times resemble those of intentional sentence verification.

Parallels between spatial cognition and spatial language: Evidence from Williams syndrome

Article Abstract:

The nature of sparing and breakdown in non-linguistic representations of reference systems is examined to find any parallels and divergences in spatial language. The results indicate that non-linguistic spatial representations and spatial language share structure, even in cases of severe spatial impairment.
