When more is not better: The role of cumulative risk in the child behavior outcomes

Article Abstract:

The impact of a cumulative risk namely, child maltreatment, inter-parental violence, family disruption, low socioeconomic status, and high parental stress in early and middle childhood and child behavior outcomes in adolescence are examined. The results support the need for comprehensive prevention and early intervention efforts with high-risk children.

Screening for DSM-IV externalizing disorders with the child behavior checklist: A receiver-operating characteristic analysis

Article Abstract:

The diagnostic accuracy of the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) syndrome AS scale for preventing DSM-IV Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Oppositional Defiant Disorder with or without Conduct disorder (ODD/CD), is presented. CBCL syndrome displays good diagnostic efficiency for assessing common externalizing disorders in children.

Testing a maternal attachment model of behavior problems in early childhood

Article Abstract:

A maternal attachment model of behavior problems in early childhood using phase I data from the NICHD study of Early Child Care, is tested. There are meaningful associations between attachment insecurity and behavior problems as assessed by mothers as well as by caregivers.
