Building a brand for independent survival

The American Booksellers Association developed the Book Sense brand name to help independent bookstores survive in a highly competitive market. The brand name and the slogan 'independent bookstores for independent minds' appeal to the most prolific book buyers and remind them of the importance of independent bookstores in keeping diversity in the publishing industry.

J-STAGE: System for publishing and linking electronic journals in Japan

Article Abstract:

Japan Science and Technology Information Aggregator, Electronic, (J-STAGE,) a free platform of electronic journals for academic societies in Japan are studied. It is found that the original system and its new version are quite successful from the growing number of articles being put up on the site and also there is a steady increase in the number of accesses.

The National Association of College Stores reported that there are about 4,830 such outlets in North America, 4,630 of them in the US, the rest in Canada. The success story of the college store that stayed independent is described.
