Charting a solo voyage

Article Abstract:

Microsoft Chart 3.0 for the PC ($395) is a capable tool. To use the results, though, pasting in is required, because these can't be posted to Ventura or Pagemaker. Chart supports a range of output devices from dot matrix to high resolution laser printers and inputs from 1-2-3, Symphony, Multiplan, Dbase, and R:base. There are drawbacks with the mouse and menus. This is good software for stand-alone slides or collating into reports, but not for use with page makeup applications.

Windows Graph, $395 from Micrografx, is a comprehensive chart- and graph-making program for IBM-compatible microcomputers. The versatile graphics program gives users a wide array of graph design and enhancement alternatives, accepts data from several popular spreadsheet applications, and includes a partial version of Microsoft Windows. Windows Graph has an excellent manual, and although it takes some effort to learn, it is considered a good value.
