Keeping your guard up in the digital age

Article Abstract:

ContentGuard Pres and COO Ranjit Singh says effective digital rights management (DRM) is important because without it, content owners will withhold much of their high-value content from the Internet, making it inaccessible to many customers. Content owners need to be sure that publishing their materials online does not expose them to copyright infringements or unauthorized redistributions. As the Napster and MP3 controversies have shown, these matters are of vital concern to owners. Singh explains how ContentGuard's technology works, saying an advanced platform-independent language called XrML assigns a range of usage rights to content. mna
