Article Abstract:

The preferential-recovery provision for bankruptcy was aimed to curb payment malpractice of debtors and creditors. The first step is to thoroughly know a debtor by verifying his credit history and putting all transactions in writing. Any alterations in payment terms should be made known to the debtor in writing. It is advisable to charge cash-on-delivery payments and letters of credit if the debtor is apparently on the verge of bankruptcy. There are circumscribed rights to recover supplies delivered just before filing of bankruptcy.
