The opinions of authors Siva Vaidhyanathan and Alexandre Herculano about copyrights, particularly those referring to the concept of property, are compared. Some reflections relating the questions raised in this comparison and the current state of copyright policy in Brazil and the United States are included.

The U.S. distribution offers great opportunities to increase revenue streams for foreign publishers.
