Punny business: Art Directors Club Germany

Article Abstract:

The 1992 contest had 90 jurors perusing 4,500 print and television advertisements. The winners were selected on the basis of the quality and innovation that went into the works. Of the 935 print entries, only one gold medal was awarded, and this went to RG Wiesmeier of Munich, Germany, for an English language ad for J&B Rare Scotch Whiskey. The ad incorporated a series of puns and illustrations. A silver award went to McCann Erickson of Frankfurt for its Camel cigarettes ad.

Bouncing and skipping: it's not all fun at the Fed

Article Abstract:

Skipping, a pattern of charting where a price will bounce along a trend line, is a visible measurement of U.S. Federal Funds Rate. This chart has been skipping in a downward motion for the past 15 years. While a rate cut is welcomed by the market, the trend appears to show a rise in the Federal Funds Rate. They rate may go up due to withdrawal of Japanese and European funds form the US treasury market and force the Fed to raise rates.
