A solid technical base

Article Abstract:

The East Midlands region of the UK has traditionally been an area of advanced engineering skills, and it has close links with the car manufacturing industry. However, companies from other industries are now beginning to recognize the region's benefits, which include high skills levels and proximity to academic institutions. The region has good transport links, including a number of major cross-country rail routes. It also benefits from being home to Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal, one of the UK's leading rail freight parks.

Bright start in the East

Article Abstract:

Business activity in East England remains varied. Some extremely successful companies in areas such as computing and biotechnology operate in clusters in and around the counties of Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire, but there are still economic difficulties in peripheral coastal towns such as Lowestoft, England, and Southend-on-Sea, England. The region has considerable geographical diversity, but a number of key roads give access to most parts of the region and beyond.
