A bigger splash

Article Abstract:

The demand for office space in Belfast, Northen Ireland, is increasing despite the past difficulties faced in the city. Some 350,000 sq ft of office space is under development but local agents are assured the demand is sufficient. Some investment deals for property in the city have gone ahead, with net yields achieving 6.25%. Local agents predict rents should reach 15-17 pounds sterling by the end of 2000. Some developers are choosing to remodel older office buildings rather than risk speculative development. Yet two large speculatively built office buildings will be completed in 2000.

White rose cultivation

Article Abstract:

The White Rose shopping centre near Leeds, England, has had mixed effects on retailers in towns along the M62. Halifax, England, has responded aggressively to the challenge posed by White Rose, with eight specific development sites being identified in the town. White Rose has had only a very limited impact on Huddersfield, England, where the retail market is likely to be significantly changed by the Kingsgate Shopping Centre, which will include a department store and 37 other units.

From strength to strength

Article Abstract:

There continues to be strong interest in retail and leisure property in Stratford upon Avon, England, even though the town is attracting fewer foreign visitors. Leamington Spa, England, also remains a strong retail centre, and few transactions are taking place within the town's prime retail area. There is also considerable movement in the retail and leisure property sectors in smaller Warwickshire towns, including Warwick, England, and Kenilworth, England.
