The good life

Article Abstract:

Prices in the Staffordshire and Shropshire, England, housing market have been improving since they fell by 30% during the recession. The average cost of a detached house located in Staffordshire is 90,017 pounds sterling which is around 22,000 pounds sterling less than the average house in England. There are few large country houses available in Staffordshire although 3,650 smaller houses were built between 1995-96. Shropshire is known for country houses which are priced very competitively compared to those of a similar quality in London. Telford and Shrewsbury both offer new smaller houses.

The UK government has indicated, by 2011, the county of Kent, England, should have an extra 116,000 new homes. The area in the vicinity of the Channel Tunnel is becoming increasingly in demand for housing from both English and European buyers. The Bluewater development, Dartford, Kent, is also experiencing more interest from buyers, with sales increasing by 25%. There has been a 14% increase in the number of homes being placed with agents, in Jan 1998, compared to Jan 1997. But indecision concerning the route of the Channel Tunnel link has adversely affected the housing market.
