Scene changes

Article Abstract:

Gloucestershire is experiencing a steady growth in commercial and industrial development, with many major companies locating their headquarters in the county. Some 23% of employees in the county are employed in manufacturing industries. The market for offices in Gloucestershire is declining, with several large business moving out whilst others reduce the size of their operation. Some local agents suggest Gloucestershire is at a disadvantage because it cannot offer incentives to encourage companies into the area. The county is known for its high quality of engineering workers.

Bay watch

Article Abstract:

The lack of industrial and distribution buildings around Leeds, England, is leading to some speculative development projects. Some agents point out that the supply of sites for speculative building projects is also limited. A new road construction project which is planned to link the M1-A1 roads is due to start in 1999. The road will provide new areas for development but delays in planning has resulted in some potential occupiers looking to alternative sites.

The belt tightens

Article Abstract:

Worcester, England, is becoming a popular area for locating industrial development due to its nearness to the M5. The town centre retail market is thriving, with an increasing demand for larger units. Development on the land around Worcester is growing, with large sales of land in both Vale Park and Hartlebury Trading Estate. Local agents suggests that further development may be restricted by the existence of green belt land in the locality.
