Article Abstract:

A study into employment in UK call centre operations found that many of the workers questioned felt that training was inadequate and staff morale was low. Call centre operators locate their operations within areas with a good supply of labour. They are increasingly becoming aware, that as more call centres are opened, a better working environment is vital in order to maintain staffing levels. A study found that some 68% of staff in UK call centres is female. It is predicted that UK call centre operations will employ 3% of the population by 2000, an increase of 2% from the 1997 total.

Article Abstract:

Cinema developers fear government plans to restrict out-of-town development will prevent them building new cinemas on out-of-town sites. Some operators are looking for new locations in town centres, particularly within established retail and leisure sites. The number of people visiting UK cinemas annually is forecasted to reach 180 million by 2000. Some observers suggest the development of new cinemas has almost reached saturation point. Cinemas operators find that planning decisions cannot be predicted, with some areas refusing nine screen facilities whilst others accept 20 screens.
