Beating the drum for Manchester

Article Abstract:

Many people who work in Manchester, England, feel that the city has a positive and successful economic profile. The city's infrastructure, communications, culture and airport are regarded as significant contributors to its success and many believe that the 2002 Commonwealth Games will further stimulate the economy. The Central Manchester Development Corporation is credited with much of the success. Competition from the Trafford Centre retail development at Dumplington may harm city centre business.

Give us more shops

Article Abstract:

Although St Albans is a very picturesque city, attracting many tourists to the area, the resident population suffers from a lack of good shopping facilities especially a large general purpose store. Discussions on the most favourable site for the construction of the new shops are in progression and plans have been shown to the public for their consideration. Office space is at a premium and some small developments have gone ahead to fulfill the increasing demand.
