Breaking new ground

Article Abstract:

Opportunities are available to UK real estate firms from residential ground rents, and funds are being set up such as the UK Ground Rents Fund, from Protected Asset Management (PAM), involved in this area. Ground rents can provide attractive long term investments with low levels of default since mortgage companies often pay when leasholders are unable to do so. PAM argues that ground rents may not be exciting, but can perform better than many other investment vehicles.

A capital way to make money

Article Abstract:

Capital and Regional is determined to be one of the leading property companies in the UK, according to chairman Martin Barber. It is likely that the company will undertake a corporate deal in the near future, building on the 108 million pounds sterling of wholly-owned property which it already controls.

Greycoat rebuffs sell-off proposal

Article Abstract:

Greycoat is strongly rejecting calls from the UK Active Value Fund that it should liquidate its 500 million pounds sterling portfolio. The company believes that such a move would lead to a forced sale of all its buildings at low prices. It has refused to comment on speculation that it may shortly be the subject of a takeover bid. It will now draw up a document to explain its position to shareholders.
