Command performance

Article Abstract:

Crown Estate Chief Executive Christopher Howes believes that this institution must operate in the same way as a comparable private-sector property concern as far as possible. It measures its performance against the best private-sector performance, and has greatly improved its financial performance since the end of the 1980s. It owns a large amount of prime property in central London, England, as well as being the largest agricultural landowner in the UK. Other interests include gold mining and fish farming.

Getting in step with the clients

Article Abstract:

There is growing pressure on property agents in the UK to enter into co-investment deals with clients. Demand for such deals is mainly coming from the US and the Far East, but property agents are also being approached by UK investors. A small number of large property agents have taken a firm stance against co-investment, while others have gone ahead with such deals. These include Jones Lang Wootton, which has invested in a $500 million hotel fund with client Host Marriott.
