Faster service

Article Abstract:

Serviced office buildings are becoming increasingly popular among occupiers in the UK, being recognized as offering flexibility and quality. There are now many companies offering serviced office accommodation. These include Regus, which has around 130 business centres in total, and plans to open a further 100 in 1998 alone. Experts believe that in the future serviced offices will be used as a form of long-term outsourcing, allowing companies to have a presence in different parts of the country.

Missing out on a healthy profit

Article Abstract:

UK chartered surveyors are failing to take up the opportunities offered by hospital Private Finance Initiative (PFI) work, according to some observers. Most are not advising on as many schemes as they should be, and are not placing enough emphasis on their property expertise. This is partly because surveyors often do not know which clients they are seeking. They should be aware that facilities management services offer considerable fee potential.

Breaking into jails

Article Abstract:

The UK government's Private Finance Initiative (PFI) is having a significant impact on approaches to the construction of prisons. The first two PFI prisons are currently under construction, and it is planned that at least 10 new prisons will be built within the foreseeable future. Building prisons under PFI is different from building schools or hospitals, as only the private sector is involved in long-term service delivery.
